No it isn’t difficult. You can buy stoneware (like a pizza stone) specifically for baking pizza, but I use a large metal pan and spread coarse cornmeal or semolina on the part of the pan where the dough will be placed.

You can buy pizza dough in the supermarket or else a pizza restaurant will often also sell you fresh dough.

Heat the often to around 450 degrees. Roll out the dough (you can use a rolling pin) on a large wooden board, brush it with olive oil. Put it on the pan or pizza stone. Let it partially cook in the oven (turn the heat down to about 350 when you put the dough in the oven.)

When it is just a little cooked, take it out and put any topping you like on it and put it back in the oven. If you are using mushrooms, onions, peppers, etc. you may want to sautee them before putting them on the dough.

You can make pizza in a shallow baking dish in the same way. You also can make a covered pie in this way, Be sure that the dough is well sealed all around and there are no breaks in the dough. (you don’t have to precook the dough if you are making a covered pie)

Another option is to roll out the dough, layer Italian coldcuts and cheese on the dough and roll up the dough and seal it so that it looks like a loaf of Italian bread. I do this often. Other fillings including sauteed spinach, feta, and dill or sauteed onions, cheese, and black olives, or sauteed hot Italian sausage and broccoli rabe. I’ve also had this with breaded eggplant, cheese, and sauce.
